Master's student at IATE NRNU MEPhI, program "Operation of Nuclear Power Plants and Installations" (Nuclear Power Plants)

Since I came to Russia, my life has changed in several ways. First of all, it's a challenge - learning another language and living in a new culture. Then you learn from experienced teachers who always try to help you, as well as help you feel comfortable and solve your problems. The first months are hard, but then you get used to it, you make friends from all over the world. There is always something to do at the university, for example, going to museums, parks, and nuclear power plants (the first in the world here in Obninsk). It's something wonderful that I won't forget, and I'm very happy to be here.

Bachelor's degree student at IATE NRNU MEPhI (Nuclear power engineering and thermal physics)

I decided to step out of my comfort zone to study abroad. At first, I was very scared, but studying abroad – specifically in Russia – has taught me a lot. It has helped me become more independent, resilient, and productive. Since I arrived here, I’ve learned so much about the diversity of Russian culture, as well as the cultures of other international students.
Studying here has allowed me to explore myself through various activities. I’ve had the chance to participate in media training, arts workshops, competitions, and industry visits. I also joined summer school, winter school, and the Obninsk program – some of the best programs I’ve ever been part of. Through these experiences, I’ve visited various industries, which helped me connect my theoretical studies to real-world applications. Additionally, I gained valuable insights from sharing sessions with decision-makers, change-makers and youth leaders. I’d say I’ve been able to learn and explore simultaneously.
I’m truly grateful for every opportunity I’ve received from my university and other organizations. These experiences are helping me build a better future career. I could sum up my study abroad journey in three words: empowering, improving, and learning.

Studying in Russia in Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (MIPT) has been a unique experience for me. Coming from Egypt, I wasn’t just stepping into a new educational system, but immersing myself in a culture and environment that values science and innovation deeply. The support I’ve received here, both from my friends and professors, has helped me grow not only academically but personally to be part of a community where tradition meets cutting-edge research, and where students from all over the world come together to learn and contribute.
For me, studying at Obninsk Tech School, three times in a row, has been much more than just gaining knowledge; it’s about connecting directly with experts from Rosatom, leading academics, and professionals deeply involved in the nuclear industry. Their lectures are not just theory – they bring real-life rxamples and practical insights.
One of the most inspiring parts of Obninsk Tech was participating in the HackAtom contest. It was a unique chance to stimulate my creativity and technical skills by brainstorming projects to promote nuclear energy awareness in different countries. This hands-on approach really helps to see how innovation can make a difference beyond the classroom.
But what truly stuck with me was the excursion to Prolog. Seeing how they integrate data from sensors and machinery to monitor and optimize complex systems was fascinating as it is part of my research to optimize the industrial automation in real time.
