The world-class research centre (WRC) "Electronic and quantum technologies based on synthetic diamond" will be established at OINPE.

Within the framework of the strategic initiative aimed at significant advancement in the field of science and technology, special attention is paid to the development of the direction "Security of information acquisition, storage, transmission and processing". OINPE receives funding in the amount of 960 million roubles for the implementation of this goal.

It should be noted that the victory in the competition for the creation of the World-class Science Centre (WSC) was the result of intense competition with a number of leading scientific centres and acknowledged leaders of university education. A key role in the success of the NRNU MEPhI application was played by the high evaluation given by the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS). RAS experts noted the scientific value and prospectivity of the presented research, which became a weighty argument in favour of choosing the university as a centre for the development of this area.

The new research centre will be engaged in the development of technologies for power and ultra-high-frequency electronic components using synthetic diamonds. Its tasks will also include the study of diamond quantum optics and training of high-level specialists in the fields of new electronics and quantum technologies based on synthetic diamonds.

The ultimate goal of the new centre is to become a national leader in the field of electronic and quantum technologies based on synthetic diamond.
