Description
The course, organized by Rosatom Technical Academy, aims to introduce participants to the key energy planning tasks and objectives with the emphasis on nuclear energy planning, to the approaches and modern means of power systems analysis, as well as to the competitiveness assessment procedure of nuclear generation based on SMR in the newcomer country’s energy system.
For whom
“Train-The-Trainers” is a series short-term training courses for academic staff of foreign universities on the topics covering key nuclear technologies and the methodology of creating educational programs.

- The role of nuclear power and renewable energy sources in low-carbon development paths,
- Economics of nuclear power and alternative non-carbon technologies,
- Tasks and objectives of the energy and nuclear energy planning, role of the modelling in the energy planning process,
- Overview of IAEA/INPRO methods and tools for modelling and analysis of nuclear energy systems,
- Technical and economic parameters of existing SMR projects,
- Approaches to assessing the competitiveness of nuclear generation based on SMR in the newcomer country’s energy system (LCOE calculations, modelling exercises with IAEA’s ESST and MESSAGE tools),
- Integration of modules on energy planning and energy modeling in master's degree programs.
What will you get?
The program is aimed at providing conditions for nuclear education transfer to ROSATOM partner countries and establishing a platform for cooperation between ROSATOM core universities and universities of ROSATOM partner countries.
